ENDOWMENT FUND HELPS BIX BEIDERBECKE
MEMORIAL SOCIETY PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE

Everyone should have a “rainy day” fund in case there’s an emergency or to help plan for the future. The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society is no different!  The good news is that we already have one in the form of an endowment fund with The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend.

Just what is an endowment fund?  Simply put, it works like a savings account or “401K” for our organization.  Bix Society members and others make contributions directly to the fund, which generates income for the organization to use or reinvest to help the principle grow.  For a modest fee, the Foundation manages and invests our Fund.

The ultimate goal is to provide for our organization’s future financial security.  The “Traditional Jazz Preservation Fund” presently stands at $10,000.00.  Eventually, our endowment could generate enough interest to support the Society’s ongoing operating expenses.  Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society members 20 and 50 years from now will benefit from what you are doing now.

Gifts to our Fund can be made in any number of ways.

  • Make a direct financial contribution in any amount.

  • Make a planned gift, such as naming the Traditional Jazz Preservation Fund in your will.

  • Name our Fund as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

  • Donate an asset, such as jewelry, real estate, artwork or an automobile.

 Support adds up fast!  For example, if 100 Society members each gave $50 this year, that would generate an additional $5,000 to our Fund.  All contributions to the Traditional Jazz Preservation Fund have the maximum tax deductibility.

How to provide a gift to the fund
Upon request, The Community Foundation or the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society staff will meet with members or other potential donors personally to discuss our endowment in more detail.  For more information call the Society office at 563-324-7170.

Checks payable to The Community Foundation of the Great River Bend should be marked “Traditional Jazz Preservation Fund” in the memo line.
